FAME Definitions

 F — Focus: Find It

Focus is the ability to direct visual attention to the right target and move between targets with control. Training includes fixation, search, horizontal and vertical scanning, near/far shifts and distraction management.

A — Accuracy: Know Where It Is

Accuracy develops consistency in how the two eyes work together to locate targets in space. Training includes binocular alignment, convergence and divergence control, depth and spatial judgment, localization and near/far changes.

M — Motor Integration: Decide and Move

Motor Integration combines visual information with a decision and a physical response. Training includes central and peripheral information, pattern and cue recognition, simple decision rules and eye-hand-body coordination.

E — Endurance: Stay Visually Effective

 Endurance is the ability to maintain task quality as duration, distraction, movement and complexity increase. The objective is not simply to work longer. The objective is to keep the visual task accurate under greater load.

Progression rule

Start simple enough to understand the task. Repeat until performance is consistent. Increase one difficulty variable at a time. Record accuracy first; add speed only after the task stays controlled. When performance breaks down, reduce complexity and rebuild.

 Early training is designed to make the FAME skills easy to identify and measure. In Week 5, the athlete begins using baseball-specific information sources, choices and movements. The scoring remains focused on the cue, decision and controlled action, not on one hit, one catch or one throw.
